The Australian Writers’ Guild, Inscription and AFTRS are giving Australian writers a rare chance learn from a teacher who has inspired some of the greatest box office hits of the past 15 years.

Richard Walter is a celebrated storyteller, movie industry expert and longtime Chairman of UCLA’s graduate program in screenwriting.

His graduates have written dozens of Hollywood blockbusters and indie productions, including Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump, Milk, Sideways, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones to name a few.

Evan Shapiro spoke with Richard about his seminars but naturally enough the conversation soon turned to the art and origins of good storytelling.

Now some film afficionados may well have heard about Tom Cowan's rather controversial film from the 70's, JOURNEY AMONG WOMEN. It was inspired by the heated gender politics debates of the time and starred members of the feminist rock band CLITORIS. Well  a 35mm print has just been restored and will be screened once again. In this chat Tom talks about what inspired him to make the film and the rough conditions both political and physical that gave birth to this forgotten Australian classic.
